Even though we play music because we love it, getting paid is a key driver for us all.
That is why we must be crystal clear to everyone how the pay structure within the band works.
The following is a description of the current pay-scale structure as of June 2025

This is broken into steps:
Step 1: We negotiate a performance with a client. We will use$10,000 as an example.

Step 2: Paul makes sure he has all the musicians needed for the performance, and if he will need to use stand in players.

Step 3: Once the team has been assembled the performance will go ahead.

Step 4: After the performance the following happens:
Paul receives payment, and the following expenses are deducted

A. Travel expenses.
B. Rentals, such as U-haul, or instruments
C. Gas
D. Other unforeseen expenses.

Note: usually these expenses are pre determined and rarely vary, so Paul can usually predict the salary payment for band members.
Step 5: The money left after expenses will be split between the band this is how it works.
Paul takes 30%. He gets a larger amount, mainly for pre-work, organization, band direction, and his song writing.
The rest of the money is split 25% between the four band members. There is no sliding scale, it's an even split.

So how can I make more money?

There is a way to make more money in the band.
This is through merchandising and CD sales.
If you are playing on a CD, you will make a percentage of the CD sales.

Merchandising
This is another way you can make money. The band sells Hats, t-shirts and other items during festivals and events. Lisa is the merchandise manager, her role is buying, selling and accounting for merchandise. If you do invest in merchandising, Lisa will give you a running total of sales and inventory.

Celtic Entertainment LLC buys the merchandise, and offers all band members the opportunity to get involved in the sales.
This is your decision.
For example:

We buy 100 T-shirts for $500
That is $5 per T-shirt
We sell them for $20 each
We make $15 profit
Total profit of $1500.
If you decided you wanted to put some money into the original purchase, let's say 50% at $250, you would make a profit of $750

This investment is entirely up to you, but is an option.
Members who do this will also make more money than members who just get base salary.

Just an FYI, some merchandise will take longer to sell, based on performances.
Sales will be given on a fae percentage split. For example if 3 people have invested and we sell 4 T-shirts, the T-shirt sales will be split between the 3 people. This will be repeated until each person has their profits in total.

Note: All tax declarations are your responsibility.

Note: Salary and income are very important to us all. if you are not unsure, or have questions, or ideas, please let me (Paul) know as soon as possible. I will explain, or help, or fix anything that needs to be fixed.
There are 3 things that kill a band:

1: Lack of Communication
2: lack of trust
3: Money issues

All the best
